HVAI Cutoff

High Velocity Adiabatic Impact Cutoff

After reviewing LMC's adiabatic process (below), the concept may seem simple, but it is the result of decades of research in universities and industry. Different methods for producing sufficient energy and speed were researched until a repeatable and reliable method was developed and patented by Lennart Lindell.

The process behind LMC's HVAI (High Velocity Adiabatic Impact) precision cutoff.
The material is fed in through the dies. It is then locked into position and the press ram is discharged. The ram hits the die, creating the adiabatic softening in the material, which completes the cut off. New material is fed through pushing the finished blank out This animation demonstrates the adiabatic process.
